This week, our ship agency colleagues at ESTELA Shipping hailed the inaugural visit to Palma de Mallorca of Virgin Voyages’ cruise ship, ‘Scarlet Lady’.

Arriving from Cannes on Thursday morning for the first time since her maiden voyage in 2020, our colleagues joined Port Authority and company officials on board for the customary welcoming ceremony.

Virgin Voyages is the first cruise line declared carbon neutral for its direct emissions footprint from its first day of commercial operation, meeting recognised verification standards, including The Gold Standard and Verified Carbon Standard.

Climeon technology uses heat generated by the ship’s engines to produce 1MW of electricity, thereby decreasing fuel demand.

Built at the Fincantieri shipyard, near Genoa, flagged in Malta, she is 108,192 GT, measuring 278 m in length and 38 m beam. Her capacity is for 2,762 passengers in 1,404 cabins, plus 1,160 crew.

For the remainder of the season, ‘Scarlet Lady’ will call in Ibiza weekly and in Mallorca fortnightly. Her sister ship, ‘Resilient Lady’, is scheduled to make her inaugural call in Palma in August.
