Early October is a particularly opportune time for businesses in the marine industry in Mallorca, as it signals the end of the Mediterranean season, before many yachts set off for the Caribbean.
Every autumn, we organise the End of Season Party in Port Adriano and the Superyacht Poker Tournament at Casino de Mallorca.
These events, now in their 5th and 4th year respectively, present a great way for you to connect with captains, crew, managers and key buy-side decision makers in our industry. It is a chance to thank those who used your services, and a way of growing your visibility in the yacht market.
END OF SEASON PARTY
BLUE NEST BAR – PORT ADRIANO
This event is Mallorca’s biggest party for the end of the Mediterranean season, as well as signalling the start of the Caribbean season. The party is a relaxed let-your-hair-down event, with themed fancy dress, complimentary full buffet and drinks, live band and DJ. The party is always well-attended by captains and crew, as well as brokers and industry colleagues, with complimentary return transport laid on from STP and Club de Mar marinas in Palma to Port Adriano.
Last year, we had more than 250 guests, while the fancy dress theme was ‘Celebrities Ahoy’, with prizes given to the best or most original costume. The event is designed for everyone to relax, after owners and charter guests have all gone home. There aren’t many events like this, squarely aimed at crew, so the turnout is always strong and the atmosphere is fun.
We create a photocall, while all sponsors’ logos appear on our printed and electronic invitations, as well as in our post-event social media. We have professional photographers and also produce video highlights of the night, which tend to generate views in the hundreds. At a higher sponsorship level, we invite ‘gold’ sponsors to place flags or roll-up banners at the venue, their logos also scroll on video monitors throughout the evening and we namecheck them in our welcome speech and/or prize-giving on the night.
SUPERYACHT POKER TOURNAMENT
CASINO DE MALLORCA – PALMA DE MALLORCA
This will be our fourth Texas Hold’Em Poker Tournament, hosted at Palma Casino. It is popular with Captains and crew alike, while we also have brokers and industry colleagues take part. The turnout is usually between 50-70 players, in a private room featuring gaming tables run by the Casino’s croupiers, while one table is available for demo/simulation games.
The tournament is open to pre-registered players only, with an affordable €60 buy-in, plus €15 for entry, which includes two complimentary drinks from the main bar. A portion of the prize money is donated to charity. In the private room, complimentary food and drinks are included.
Doors open some 1.5 hours before the tournament starts, with drinks and food served. Given the modest number of people, this pre-game time and the breaks provide a lot of time for networking with fellow guests. Players tend to enjoy this night, with most buying in again when their hands go against them. Last year, the tournament finished at 04:00am!
Here too, we have a photographer and shoot limited amounts of video, which produce healthy interest on post-event social media.
